Role Overview
As a Senior Kubernetes Control Plane Engineer, you will be tasked with creating scalable Kubernetes control-plane setups, authoring Operators and Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs), enhancing etcd performance, and implementing secure multi-tenant isolation mechanisms. Responsibilities also include orchestrating upgrades, leading cluster federation efforts, integrating GPU orchestration capabilities, conducting design assessments, mentoring team members, and proactively addressing reliability challenges within the control plane.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and deploy scalable control-plane infrastructures utilizing Cluster API
- Create and maintain Kubernetes Operators and CRDs
- Enhance etcd performance and management
- Implement secure isolation for multi-tenant API servers
- Design zero-downtime upgrade processes and multi-cluster federation strategies
- Integrate control plane with GPU orchestration layers
- Lead technical design reviews and provide mentorship to engineers
- Detect and mitigate potential failure modes in the control plane
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines
- Minimum 8 years of professional software engineering experience
- Proficient in Go programming language through practical experience
- In-depth familiarity with Kubernetes ecosystem components including Operators, API Server, etcd, and Cluster API
- Proven ability to operate, debug, and scale complex distributed production systems
- Strong knowledge of multi-tenancy concepts, cluster federation, and API governance
- Familiar with Terraform, Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and managed cloud platforms
- Excellent technical leadership capabilities coupled with strong communication skills
