Senior Java Software Engineer

Join a leading global bank's technology team to build and enhance a strategic reference data platform that facilitates data collection and processing organization-wide.

Role Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of key strategic projects, covering all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) including analysis, design, coding, testing, and deployment.
• Develop and deploy high-quality technical solutions adhering to engineering best practices.
• Grasp system and enterprise architecture to understand the interplay between various components.
• Collaborate effectively with international and diverse teams including Business Analysts, Production Support, and Infrastructure specialists.
• Participate actively within an Agile Scrum environment and deliver projects within agreed timelines, quality, and scope.
• Build partnerships with technology vendors to gain deep product knowledge.
• Upgrade and re-architect legacy components to meet evolving requirements regarding scalability and performance.
• Provide tier-3 escalation support for applications when needed.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum of 7 years professional experience in Java development.
• Strong grasp of Java core concepts including JDBC, multithreading, collections, and input/output operations.
• Proficiency with Spring Boot framework.
• Experience with SQL and PL-SQL programming on Oracle databases.
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes container platform.
• Proficiency with RESTful web services, Kafka messaging systems, and Redis.
• Familiarity with Unix command line and shell scripting.
• Solid foundation in standard data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with development and collaboration tools such as JIRA, Harness/uDeploy, SonarQube, TeamCity, Artifactory, and Git (GitHub Enterprise and Bitbucket).
• Strong logical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities with a solution-oriented mindset.
• Effective multitasking and time management abilities, adaptable to multiple time zones and shifting priorities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience practicing Scrum Agile methodologies.
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases.
• Experience designing and implementing microservices architectures.
• Exposure to financial services technologies, particularly in reference data domains.
• Knowledge of physical and logical data modeling techniques.
