Role Overview
The Learning Platforms team is searching for a seasoned Full Stack Software Engineer to join a globally dispersed group comprising software engineers, quality engineers, and UX designers. The role involves building and maintaining various training platforms including Learning Subscription, Academy Learning Platform, Skills Assessment, and Survey Tools. The technology stack includes Python, Django REST API, GraphQL, ReactJS, Typescript, Elasticsearch, OpenShift, ArgoCD, and Tekton.
Key Responsibilities
- Own feature development from ideation through production deployment, including design discussions, coding, thorough testing, and ongoing support.
- Develop and maintain full-stack applications across multiple training platforms.
- Translate wireframes and mock-ups into efficient, scalable UI components using ReactJS, Typescript, and libraries like PatternFly.
- Develop and integrate backend services using Python (Django REST API).
- Work with containerized environments, setting up local development setups and deploying applications on OpenShift.
- Collaborate extensively with engineers, product managers, and UX designers to deliver innovative features.
- Enhance code quality through rigorous testing, code reviews, and continuous improvements.
- Participate actively in the entire software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- Diagnose and fix bugs spanning the full application stack.
- Occasionally contribute to building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Share insights and technical knowledge during engineering sessions, contributing to system improvements.
- Engage in Agile ceremonies such as story refinement, demos, retrospectives, regression testing, and application releases.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in designing, developing, and implementing web applications.
- Proficiency in Python and/or ReactJS application development.
- Strong command of JavaScript frameworks, particularly ReactJS, and experience with TypeScript.
- Familiarity with JavaScript UI libraries, including Bootstrap and Patternfly.
- Experienced in building and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Practical experience with Linux container technologies such as Docker or Podman, alongside Linux system administration.
- Hands-on knowledge of software testing practices, including unit tests.
- Experience using source control management tools like GitHub or GitLab.
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities and ability to collaborate effectively in remote environments.
- Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to diverse technical and non-technical audiences.
- Understanding of version control workflows, Agile methodologies, and Kanban-based processes.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with end-to-end testing frameworks like Selenium.
- Familiarity with OpenShift administration and GitOps workflows.
- Knowledge of GraphQL is advantageous.
