Role Overview

The Senior Full Stack Engineer will join the Cloud Integrations team within the Grafana Cloud Observability group, focused on building tools that help developers monitor their applications and infrastructure across environments. This work directly contributes to core features of Grafana Cloud, leveraging open-source projects such as Prometheus and OpenTelemetry, to which you may also contribute.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain full-stack features involving frontend (TypeScript/React), backend (Golang), and monitoring mixins (Jsonnet).
• Deliver end-to-end project ownership—from user interface to backend services and dashboard/alerting components associated with each integration.
• Adapt fluidly between different technologies and parts of the stack according to project needs.
• Engage regularly with users to validate and refine delivered solutions.
• Lead technical discussions: author design proposals, demonstrate progress, and advocate team roadmaps within cross-functional teams.
• Contribute to upstream open-source projects like Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, and Grafana Alloy as relevant.
• Participate in on-call rotations for owned services to ensure operational reliability.

Qualifications & Skills

• Strong full-stack development experience, preferably with Go and TypeScript or comparable languages.
• Experience working with frontend (React/TypeScript), backend services (Go), and configuration languages like Jsonnet.
• Interest in delivering user-centered solutions, understanding problems before choosing solutions.
• Proficiency with observability tools including Prometheus, Grafana dashboards, and alerting systems.
• Experience with AI-assisted coding tools and ability to balance their benefits and limitations.
• Excellent written communication skills to coordinate asynchronously across time zones.
• Visibility and proactivity in raising concerns and promoting team accomplishments.

Preferred Bonuses

• Contributions to or maintenance of open source projects with demonstrated community engagement.
• Experience developing developer tools supporting large user bases.
• Familiarity with building Grafana plugins, apps, or dashboards.
• Knowledge of Grafana Alloy, OpenTelemetry Collector, or telemetry pipeline technologies.

• On-call experience for monitoring production systems and understanding effective alerting.

Compensation & Benefits

In Canada, the range for On-Target Earnings (base plus incentives) is CAD 164,490 to 197,389 annually. Compensation varies with level and experience. All employees receive Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), promoting shared ownership. A global annual leave policy grants 30 days per year, including 3 mandatory Grafana Shutdown Days to encourage rest. Local laws take precedence when applicable.
