Role Overview
The Senior Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing financial control, treasury management, tax compliance, and finance operations within UCC Energy's upstream oil and gas business segment. This position ensures accurate financial reporting, liquidity management, regulatory adherence, governance, audit preparedness, and enhancing the finance team's skills and effectiveness.
Primary Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of financial controls, including the record-to-report cycle, monthly financial closing, statutory financial reporting under IFRS standards, and managing audits.
- Handle treasury functions such as cash flow forecasting, banking relations, payment processing, issuance of guarantees, facilities management, and working capital optimization.
- Direct tax-related activities ensuring strategic tax planning, adherence to local tax regulations, timely statutory submissions, and corporate tax governance.
- Oversee finance operations encompassing transaction processing, master data integrity, SAP system controls, and ensuring compliance with financial processes.
- Monitor and mitigate financial risks via controls, assurance measures, remediation actions, and maintaining supporting documentation standards.
- Lead and mentor finance teams to develop capabilities and drive continuous process improvements.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Mandatory experience in oil and gas operations or joint ventures, ideally from the perspective of the operator or owner rather than contractors.
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Possession of recognized professional accounting credentials such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent.
- At least 12 years of progressive finance experience incorporating senior roles in controllership, treasury, and team leadership.
- Significant exposure to upstream oil and gas or exploration and production (E&P) accounting.
- Deep understanding of IFRS standards, financial controls, treasury operations, taxation, finance operations, and specifically E&P accounting practices.
- Experience managing ERP systems with a focus on SAP control ownership, alongside robust analytical skills.
- Proficiency in English and willingness to travel as job demands.
