Senior Estimator

Overview

Join Dragados UK & Ireland as a Senior Estimator on the Euston Station Project, responsible for developing reliable, integrated cost plans that ensure value for money and are benchmarked internally and externally.

Key Duties

• Assist business development by preparing precise, competitive bid estimates.
• Collaborate with technical, planning, and construction teams to create detailed cost estimates for work packages and associated preliminaries.
• Provide cost-related input for construction methodologies, temporary works, resource planning, and logistics planning.
• Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to gather, verify quotes, unit costs, and construction approaches.
• Align estimating efforts across estimators within the organization for consistency.
• Analyze and estimate cost impacts of project risks for risk assessment contribution.
• Track and update budgets responding to design changes to maintain cost control and value.
• Support costing evaluations during bid-stage design modifications.
• Maintain internal cost databases, market intelligence, and benchmarking data between tenders.

Skills and Competencies

• Comprehensive knowledge of estimating methods and construction processes.
• Advanced expertise in first principles estimation techniques and both top-down and bottom-up approaches.
• Familiarity with BIM-based cost modeling and quantitative risk analysis (QRA) tools.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and data analytics.
• Accurate take-off measurement preparation capability.
• Robust numerical analysis and data interpretation skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills allowing clear conveyance of complex information.
• Self-driven with strong initiative and capable of independent work.
• Adaptable and resilient, able to sustain performance under tight deadlines.

Qualifications and Experience

• Good understanding of standard industry contract forms, especially NEC, and various procurement methods.
• Experience in infrastructure or rail sectors or other major projects.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive client, design team, and stakeholder relationships.
• Highly numerate with strong focus on accuracy and detail.
• Experience in cost planning.
• Competence using measurement software such as CostX, Bluebeam, or equivalents.
