About the Role
DXC Technology, a global leader in IT services, is seeking a Senior Engineer / Technical Lead to join their team in Wellington, New Zealand. The successful candidate will spearhead a team of software engineers, providing both technical guidance and people leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality, secure, and operationally sound software solutions. This role includes hands-on involvement in software development, designing, coding, and code reviews to support the team and accelerate project progress. The role emphasizes continuous improvement, effective stakeholder communication, and alignment with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop software utilizing tools and frameworks such as Java, J2EE, Spring, Oracle Database, Oracle WebLogic, SOAP and RESTful web services, Vue.js, Git, GitHub, Jenkins, Red Hat Linux, and DevOps practices.
- Preferably bring experience with cloud platforms, particularly Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers to design, build, and deliver robust software products.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to define project requirements and ensure on-time project delivery.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and performance assessments to foster professional growth within the team.
- Work closely with architects and senior engineers to uphold code quality and architectural standards.
- Monitor project milestones, proactively identifying and resolving issues impacting timelines.
- Participate willingly in application support and on-call rotations when required.
- Cultivate a culture of cooperation, innovation, and ongoing enhancement within the engineering team.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or another relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 7 years of professional experience in software engineering, including a minimum of 3 years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
- Proven expertise in one or more programming languages and development methodologies.
- Strong capabilities in programming, debugging, communication, and team leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage software projects and resources.
Additional Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a related field is advantageous.
- Relevant certifications or professional training are a plus.
