Senior Engineer - OT Cybersecurity

Overview

We are looking for experienced engineers—Senior or Lead level—to assist in deploying OT cybersecurity solutions across utility environments and master control centers. This position requires hands-on skills in deploying, configuring, and integrating cybersecurity technologies, designing infrastructure, commissioning projects, and preparing comprehensive documentation. Candidates should bring strong expertise in operational technology and instrumentation, combined with practical experience in high and low voltage substations.

Key Responsibilities and Skills

• Execute on-site tasks within brownfield substations or utility settings, demonstrating awareness of high and low voltage interfaces and adhering to safety protocols in active operational sites.
• Oversee cabinet and panel assembly, ensuring precise cabling, termination, correct labeling, thorough testing, and accurate as-built documentation.
• Develop high-level and low-level design (HLD/LLD) documentation and detailed engineering drawings suitable for implementation.
• Understand OT network frameworks, including segmentation and zoning principles, and comprehend integration limitations specific to utility operations.
• Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and commissioning through systematic documentation and evidence preparation.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards including experience with permit-to-work (PTW) systems, method statements, and risk assessments tailored for live utility sites.
• Familiarize with UAE utility safety requirements such as those aligned with OSHAD standards and client safety policies.
• Hold or be eligible for relevant utility competency certificates (e.g., Transco Competent Person) through appropriate substation or safety training and experience.
• Possess NEBOSH IGC certification (or equivalent) and OSHAD registration, alongside first aid and firefighting credentials as typical for utility site roles.
• Demonstrate a proactive approach with strong ownership, coordinating across multiple stakeholders including clients, OEMs, and subcontractors while managing tight project timelines.
• Exhibit meticulous attention to detail in engineering drawings, cabling schedules, labeling, and compiling documentation packages.
• Communicate clearly and consistently with accurate reporting on site progress, potential risks, and interdependencies.

Experience Requirements

• A minimum of 7 to 12 years in cyber or OT infrastructure, electrical-telecom implementation within utilities, substations, rail, or industrial settings.
• Proven ability to implement and manage brownfield site activities such as cabling, panel construction, and commissioning assistance.
• Hands-on experience in data center infrastructure, including rack and cabling setups supporting cyber platforms, is considered a significant advantage.

Educational and Certification Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation, Telecom, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• Must have at least one recognized OT cybersecurity certification such as ISA 62443, GICSP, or CISSP.
