Job description
About the Role
We are collaborating with a prominent Irish building consultancy to hire a Senior Electrical Engineer who will play a critical role in overseeing significant hyperscale data centre projects throughout Ireland. This is a full-time, permanent remote position offering the opportunity to lead technical operations beyond traditional electrical design.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead detailed electrical design assessments, prepare technical documentation, and perform advanced electrical calculations.
- Evaluate medium-voltage and low-voltage distribution networks, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), generators, switchgear, and power monitoring systems to ensure reliability and operational efficiency.
- Provide support for construction site inspections, manage requests for information (RFIs), and conduct technical risk evaluations.
- Take part in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), supervise commissioning activities, and assist with Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
- Manage project closeout procedures, including strategies for energisation and plans to ensure operational readiness.
Candidate Requirements
- Possession of a degree in Electrical Engineering.
- A minimum of ten years of experience in electrical building services, mission-critical facilities, or data centre environments.
- Chartered Engineer status or active progress towards achieving it.
- Extensive knowledge of medium and low voltage systems, switchgear, protection schemes, and commissioning and testing methodologies.
- Proven capability to independently conduct technical evaluations and effectively engage with stakeholders across multiple concurrent projects.
