Intermediate Electrical Engineer - Building Services

Position Overview

Join GHD's dynamic team and help build a meaningful career contributing to property, building, and infrastructure projects. As an Intermediate Electrical Engineer, you will offer your expertise in electrical design and technical input throughout project planning, design, and construction phases.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement electrical systems for buildings including power distribution, lighting, and low-voltage solutions.
• Provide expertise in communications, ICT, fire systems, and their integration with building infrastructure.
• Create design documentation, technical reports, and specifications in accordance with company and client standards.
• Support project planning, design development, construction activities, and site services when required.
• Engage closely with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success.
• Assist in preparing proposals, bids, and responding to new project opportunities.
• Work on projects across New Zealand and Australia, with scope for involvement in broader APAC initiatives.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
• At least 3 years of electrical engineering experience, with preference for candidates having 3 to 5 years.
• Proven background in building services electrical design.
• Knowledge and experience with power, lighting, and low-voltage distribution systems.
• Familiarity with ICT systems within building environments.
• Experience delivering multidisciplinary projects.
• Proficient in preparing design documentation, reports, and technical specifications.
• Competency with AGI-32 and PowerCAD software packages.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Effective client engagement and stakeholder management skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and ensure high-quality outputs.
• Advantageous: experience in security system design and construction-phase or site-based services support.
• Preference for candidates who are Chartered Professional Engineers (CPEng) or actively pursuing registration.

Work Environment

This role operates predominantly onsite in Wellington, with the opportunity to collaborate in a hybrid work model involving three days per week in-office, embracing both flexibility and teamwork.
