Senior Earthing Engineer

About the Role

Join GHD's Electrical Delivery team within the Design & Delivery Organisation as a Senior Engineer specializing in Earthing and Bonding. This role involves contributing expert technical skills to large-scale projects across renewable energy, power networks, transportation, resources, and critical infrastructure sectors both in Australia and worldwide. You will collaborate with public utilities, government agencies, private developers, and industrial operators, gaining exposure to diverse global markets such as water, energy, environment, property, buildings, and transportation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, construction, and commissioning phases of earthing, bonding, and associated electrical projects.
• Create and review detailed design drawings, technical documentation, inspection and test plans, and other project-related deliverables.
• Oversee the quality and management of work packages, coordinate with client engineers through design reviews, workshops, technical problem-solving, and progress reporting to ensure strong engineering and commercial results.
• Develop technical resources and offer training and mentoring to enhance the engineering team's skills and capabilities.
• Estimate costs and prepare tenders and proposals for electrical works.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across various GHD offices to identify and deliver project opportunities.
• Conduct site inspections and prepare reports related to proposals, design implementations, and construction activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Chartered Professional Engineer certification or active pursuit of this status.
• Extensive experience in detailed design of transmission and distribution systems including substations, overhead lines, and underground cables, as well as preparing related reports, drawings, and specifications.
• Minimum five years of specialized involvement in earthing and bonding design, electrolysis assessment, lightning protection, electromagnetic field studies, and electromagnetic compatibility design in sectors like energy, resources, transportation, and property buildings.
• Deep understanding of the project development lifecycle.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Collaborative team player with a commitment to mentoring and sharing knowledge.
• Capable of working independently, seeking guidance when necessary, and managing multiple priorities effectively.
• Proven track record in preparing and leading successful proposals and marketing efforts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities accompanied by sound judgment.
• Skilled in time management and commercial aspects to successfully deliver multiple projects on budget while maintaining strong client relationships.
