Senior Earthing Engineer

Overview

Join GHD as a Senior Engineer specializing in Earthing and Bonding within the Electrical Delivery team of the Design & Delivery Organisation. This role offers the chance to contribute to prominent Australian and international projects spanning renewable energy, power networks, transport, resources, and critical infrastructure sectors. You'll collaborate with utilities, government agencies, private developers, asset owners, and industry operators, while gaining exposure to diverse markets including water, energy and resources, environment, property, buildings, and transportation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead earthing and bonding related projects from initial concept through to construction and commissioning phases.
• Prepare and critically assess design drawings, technical documentation, inspection/test plans, and project deliverables.
• Oversee the design quality of work packages, and collaborate closely with client engineers through design reviews, workshops, resolving technical issues, and providing progress updates to ensure strong engineering, commercial, and client outcomes.
• Create technical resources and deliver mentoring and training to enhance engineering capability within the team.
• Estimate and prepare tenders and proposals related to electrical scopes of work.
• Work cross-functionally with GHD offices to identify and deliver new project opportunities.
• Conduct site inspections and compile reports for proposals, design implementation, and construction activities.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Chartered Professional Engineer accreditation or active progress towards it.
• Extensive experience in the detailed design of transmission and distribution infrastructure, including substations, overhead lines, and underground cable systems; encompassing report, drawing, and specification preparation.
• At least five years' specialized experience in earthing and bonding design, electrolysis assessment, lightning protection, electromagnetic field studies, and electromagnetic compatibility design across various sectors such as energy, resources, transportation, and buildings.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the project development lifecycle.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A collaborative mindset with readiness to share knowledge, mentor others, and contribute to the team's overall capabilities.
• Ability to work independently, seek guidance as necessary, and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Proven success in preparing and leading proposals and marketing efforts.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving abilities and sound judgment.
• Effective time and commercial management skills, capable of handling multiple projects within budget while nurturing client relationships.
