About Zinkworks
Zinkworks collaborates with top Telecommunications and Financial Services enterprises to transform legacy platforms, migrate essential systems to the cloud, and develop AI-powered automation solutions. Operating mainly in Ireland, EU, UK, and US markets, the company combines rich domain expertise with excellent delivery capabilities to enable clients to innovate rapidly and enhance operational efficiency.
Role Overview
Zinkworks is assembling a focused product discovery team tasked with creating AI, machine learning, and software solutions for future telecom networks, progressing fresh product ideas from inception to functional prototypes. They seek a Senior DevOps/Platform Engineer to lead cloud infrastructure and deployment systems, facilitating swift product development.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage cloud and deployment foundations, mainly on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), for the product team.
- Partner with product managers, engineers, and applied scientists from the earliest stages of new product concepts, enabling rapid delivery of prototypes.
- Create, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines ensuring automation of software deployment.
- Set up and administer internal development, testing, and demo environments.
- Develop reusable infrastructure patterns to streamline project initiation and reduce redundant setup efforts.
- Promote consistency across multiple technology stacks while avoiding unnecessary standardization.
- Design and oversee release pipelines, manage secrets and environment configurations securely.
- Implement and maintain Kubernetes-based infrastructure as appropriate.
- Resolve complex cloud and infrastructure challenges and proactively put measures in place to prevent recurrence.
- Support the transition of prototypes into resilient, easy-to-deploy production solutions with enhanced observability, reliability, security, and operational preparedness.
- Critically evaluate architectural and infrastructure decisions to simplify or improve effectiveness.
- Continuously improve the team’s DevOps methodologies by identifying and removing bottlenecks hindering product development.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Proven hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably GCP.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement effective CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with Kubernetes, including deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting in containerized settings.
- Management of development, testing, and staging environments in a repeatable and scalable way.
- Deep understanding of secrets management, configuration management, and secure deployment techniques.
- Capability to translate high-level, loosely defined infrastructure needs into practical and maintainable solutions.
- Strong problem-solving skills for complex cloud and deployment issues, able to work independently.
- Sound engineering judgement to balance robustness with simplicity and manage appropriate infrastructure complexity.
- Collaborative work style engaging directly with software engineers, ML engineers, product managers, and other specialists.
- Proactive mindset with confidence to propose ideas, challenge assumptions constructively, and take ownership until resolution.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced product discovery environment characterized by evolving requirements.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.
- Familiarity with GKE and other GCP cloud-native services.
- Background supporting AI or machine learning workflows, including integration with platforms such as Vertex AI.
- Experience developing internal shared platforms or tooling to improve engineering productivity.
- Skill in maturing prototypes into stable, deployable products.
- Knowledge of observability systems, including logging, monitoring, and alerting best practices.
- Experience in telecommunications, network automation, or other complex technical environments.
Inclusion & Diversity
Zinkworks is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and supportive workplace culture, recognizing that diverse perspectives fuel innovation and teamwork. Based in Ireland, the company actively supports community initiatives promoting equity and inclusion beyond its organization.
