Job Overview
The Silicon Solutions Group (SSG) at Cadence designs cutting-edge Intellectual Property (IP) for diverse high-technology industries. This group provides IP solutions that facilitate efficient IP-to-SoC development, helping customers focus on product differentiation and speed up production timelines.
An experienced Senior Design Engineering Manager is sought to lead the Controller IP team based in Cork, Ireland. This role reports to the Design Engineering Director and collaborates with teams in Europe, the US, and India.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership on complex IP projects including UCIe, Ethernet, HBM, and PCIe.
- Work alongside system architects and product managers to define architecture and specifications for protocols like UCIe, balancing data rate, power consumption, and adherence to industry standards.
- Lead RTL development hands-on from micro-architecture definition through to general release sign-off.
- Contribute to digital team planning by setting activities and milestones.
- Facilitate cross-functional technical meetings involving analog and software teams.
- Support customers in both pre-sales and post-sales discussions.
- Develop and refine processes to enhance product execution, IP quality, and ensure compliance with best industry practices.
- Participate actively in Technical Review Meetings and Checklist Reviews complying with ISO-9001 standards.
- Represent Cadence in standards development organizations such as IEEE, PCI-SIG, JEDEC, and UCIe working groups.
- Present Cadence’s advancements and innovations at industry conferences including IEEE and DAC.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, microelectronics, or related discipline is required.
- 15 to 20 years of microelectronics industry experience.
- Proficient in Verilog/SystemVerilog RTL design.
- Expertise with front-end design tools including LINT, synthesis, and CDC/RDC analysis.
- Strong background in SoC architecture and development.
- Demonstrated technical leadership capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
- Self-driven with strong planning and interpersonal skills, able to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Metric Driven Verification (MDV) and Universal Verification Methodology (UVM).
- Familiarity with industry standards such as AXI, CHI-C2C, and CXS.B.
- Knowledge of quality management processes like ISO-9001 and ISO-26262.
