Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Data Engineer with extensive expertise in data migration, warehousing, and WhereScape ETL tools. This role encompasses architecting, developing, and deploying large-scale data solutions by migrating from legacy systems into modern data warehouses while ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and performance excellence.
Key Duties
- Manage comprehensive data migration projects involving source analysis, data mapping, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and go-live support.
- Create and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines utilizing WhereScape RED and associated technologies.
- Develop and improve enterprise data warehouses and marts for analytics, reporting, and business intelligence.
- Evaluate legacy systems and construct migration strategies for both structured and semi-structured data.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate needs into scalable data solutions.
- Document source-to-target mappings, transformation logic, and migration workflows.
- Guarantee data quality and consistency throughout integration phases.
- Optimize ETL processes, SQL queries, and database performance for large data operations.
- Conduct testing phases including unit, system integration, user acceptance, and production validation.
- Diagnose and resolve data integration and performance challenges.
- Advocate best practices for ETL creation, migration governance, release cycles, and operational support.
- Provide mentorship and technical leadership within the data engineering team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related fields.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in data engineering, ETL, or data warehousing roles.
- Hands-on proficiency with WhereScape RED; familiarity with WhereScape 3D preferred.
- Demonstrated success in data migration, legacy system modernization, or platform transitions.
- Strong command of SQL and relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or Snowflake.
- In-depth knowledge of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, star schemas, and historical data practices.
- Experience in profiling, cleansing, transforming, validating, and reconciling data.
- Expertise in ETL/ELT frameworks, batch processing, and data integration standards.
- Capability to handle complex datasets and high-volume data environments.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Expertise
- Experience on cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Knowledge of BI and analytics tools including Power BI, Tableau, or QlikView.
- Scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, or Shell scripting.
- Understanding of data governance, metadata management, auditing, and compliance.
- Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
- Background in large-scale enterprise transformations and modernization efforts.
