Senior Data Architect

Role Summary

We are searching for a seasoned Enterprise Data Architect to design, oversee, and advance the company's data architecture in line with enterprise architecture standards such as TOGAF or similar frameworks. This role demands a professional who can effectively connect business needs with robust, scalable data models for both operational and analytical environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Create conceptual, logical, and physical data models that support business capabilities and conform to enterprise guidelines.
• Carry out data architecture tasks within the TOGAF ADM framework, producing deliverables like Data Entity/Business Function matrices, Application/Data CRUD matrices, and conceptual/logical data models.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to convert business processes and requirements into clearly defined data domains, entities, and relationships.
• Develop and apply data governance policies, including data ownership, stewardship, quality standards, and master data management practices.
• Design dimensional models for analytics and data warehousing projects, alongside normalized models for transactional systems.
• Create and upkeep an enterprise-wide data dictionary, glossary, and metadata catalog.
• Analyze and streamline data flows and lineage across source systems, integration layers, and target platforms.
• Work closely with application architects, data engineers, and business intelligence teams to ensure data models are effectively implemented physically, including SQL DDL, warehouse schemas, and APIs.
• Identify data quality issues at the source and develop strategies for remediation and standardization.
• Advise on architectural decisions like normalization vs. denormalization, slowly changing dimension (SCD) tactics, and data domain segmentation.
• Communicate architecture proposals to senior leadership and architecture review committees.

Required Skills and Experience

• More than 8 years of experience in data modeling, data architecture, or related disciplines.
• Strong understanding of entity-relationship modeling, normalization principles (1NF–3NF/BCNF), and dimensional modeling approaches.
• Experience applying enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF; TOGAF certification is highly desirable.
• Practical knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM) and data governance methodologies.
• Proficient in SQL with hands-on experience working with relational databases and cloud data warehouses like Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
• Familiarity with data modeling software such as ERwin, ER/Studio, dbdiagram.io, Lucidchart, or similar tools.
• Exposure to data cataloging and metadata management solutions.
• Excellent communication skills to bridge business terminology with technical data models.

Preferred Qualifications

• TOGAF 9 or 10 certification.
• Certified Databricks Expert credentials.
• Knowledge of Data Vault modeling techniques.
• Experience designing ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration architectures.
• Understanding of data mesh concepts or domain-driven data ownership frameworks.
• Background in regulated sectors such as telecommunications, finance, healthcare, or insurance, emphasizing compliance and governance.
