Team Overview

Our Supply Chain unit in Athenry is vital to supporting manufacturing operations. The Purchasing team collaborates cross-functionally with Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Global Procurement to secure reliable material supply, driving operational excellence and helping our growth trajectory.

Role Summary

The Senior Buyer will manage procurement and supply of both direct and indirect materials at Dexcom's European manufacturing facility. This position collaborates across various departments to assure material availability, optimize inventory, enhance supplier performance, and support scalable manufacturing. Key duties include purchase order management, supplier forecasting, inventory strategy, quality collaboration, and cost reduction efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Create, revise, and expedite purchase orders aligned with MRP schedules and inventory plans.
  • Communicate supplier forecasts to aid capacity planning and ensure material readiness.
  • Oversee procurement activities for assigned supplier groups involving direct and indirect materials.
  • Partner with manufacturing, planning, quality assurance, and engineering to maintain steady material supply.
  • Develop and uphold inventory strategies that meet production needs while controlling inventory levels.
  • Track and adjust inventory to meet business objectives whilst minimizing surplus and outdated stock.
  • Evaluate supplier delivery performance, initiating corrective measures to raise service quality.
  • Contribute to Supplier Relationship Management and participate in supplier reviews.
  • Work with suppliers and quality teams to handle supply and quality concerns effectively.
  • Manage supplier involvement in Engineering Change Orders, product revisions, and lifecycle updates.
  • Address purchase price variances, payment issues, and material review board outcomes.
  • Engage in cost containment and efforts to increase local sourcing alongside Global Procurement.
  • Ensure accurate Bill of Materials, item master data, and configuration management support.
  • Adhere to company quality systems, purchasing policies, regulations, and FDA standards.

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficient knowledge of purchasing, inventory control, material planning, and supply chain workflow.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret demand signals, supplier commitments, and inventory data for sound decision-making.
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems, preferably Oracle.
  • Expertise in managing supplier relationships and negotiation.
  • Effective collaboration with multiple internal functions including manufacturing, quality, and procurement.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Problem-solving orientation and proactive measures to mitigate supply disruptions.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Additional Preferred Experience

  • Background in medical device, pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Previous involvement with manufacturing start-up, scale-up, or commercial production.
  • Procurement certifications such as CIPS, CPSM or CPM preferred.
  • Familiarity with Integrated Business Planning (IBP) and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP).
  • Experience managing supplier quality, supply continuity, and engineering change processes.

Compensation and Benefits

The role offers an annual gross salary between €60,605 and €78,430, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Work Arrangement and Travel

This full-time, onsite position is based in Athenry, County Galway, Ireland, with minimal travel expected (0-5%).
