Job Overview

An established consultancy specialising in multidisciplinary construction seeks a Senior Building Surveyor to join its growing team in Bristol. This position offers involvement in a diverse array of public and private sector building projects, providing an exciting chance to elevate your surveying career with a salary of up to £65,000 plus benefits.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage refurbishment, enhancement, and modernisation projects across various sectors.
• Conduct building surveys, condition inspections, and assessments.
• Develop specifications, technical drawings, feasibility analyses, and detailed client reports.
• Secure cost estimates and navigate statutory approvals for projects.
• Administer contracts utilizing well-known frameworks such as JCT and NEC.
• Oversee regional projects and offer expert Building Surveying advice to clients.
• Support senior management in daily project and team coordination activities.
• Foster and maintain productive client relationships.
• Mentor junior surveyors, including those undertaking their RICS Assessment of Professional Competence (APC).
• Lead and develop junior team members through direct line management.
• Contribute to business development initiatives by preparing and assisting bids and tenders.
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards.
• Opportunity to work towards an NEC Supervisor qualification if not already held.

Candidate Requirements

• Possess a BSc (Hons) degree in Building Surveying or a related RICS-accredited qualification.
• Preferably hold MRICS accreditation with valuable post-qualification experience.
• Demonstrate robust technical expertise in Building Surveying and proven success across diverse projects.
• Experienced in managing client engagements and delivering excellent professional services.
• Commercially astute with knowledge of profitability factors and business development processes.
• Proven track record mentoring and coaching junior staff members.
• Capable of juggling multiple projects while meeting deadlines efficiently.
• Excellent technical report writing and documentation proficiency.
• Solid understanding of Health & Safety practices and relevant statutory regulations.
• Experience in specialised areas such as dilapidations, Party Wall matters, fire risk appraisal, or access assessments is advantageous.
• Proficiency in IT applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and NBS; Revit skills are beneficial.
• Willingness to travel as project requirements dictate.
