About the Role
An established public accounting firm in Spruce Grove, Alberta is seeking a Senior Bookkeeper to join their team. This position is designed for an experienced full-cycle bookkeeping professional who thrives in a collaborative environment, manages diverse client portfolios, and appreciates flexible work locally without city commuting.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle full-cycle bookkeeping for a variety of small to medium-sized enterprise clients spanning multiple industries.
- Prepare month-end, quarter-end, and year-end working paper files to assist CPA reviews and tax filings.
- Conduct general ledger reconciliations, bank and credit card reconciliations, and record journal entries accurately.
- Administer full-cycle payroll including direct deposits, deductions, Records of Employment, and T4/T5 annual summaries.
- Prepare and submit GST and other statutory government remittances punctually and correctly.
- Maintain ongoing communication with client executives and internal staff to address discrepancies and respond to accounting questions.
- Assist in onboarding new bookkeeping clients and optimize workflow processes leveraging cloud accounting software.
Requirements and Experience
- A minimum of 4 years of comprehensive full-cycle bookkeeping experience, preferably within a public accounting or multi-client firm setting.
- Advanced expertise in QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, and/or Xero platforms; familiarity with Caseware, Profile, or TaxCycle is highly advantageous.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or professional bookkeeping certification (CPB, PCP) considered a plus.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and proactive problem-solving abilities coupled with excellent communication skills.
