Senior Application Engineer (Java, Cloud & AI)

Overview

As a Senior Application Engineer, you will play a key role in the digital transformation and automation of business processes within the private insurance sector. Your work will center around creating and enhancing digital solutions that serve customers, sales partners, and collaborators using advanced cloud, AI, and automation technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to the digitalization and automation of business workflows leveraging modern cloud, artificial intelligence, and automation tools.
• Design, plan architecture, and implement contemporary applications and integration solutions.
• Develop and manage scalable cloud applications based on modern standards in architecture and development.
• Model and automate business processes, including integrating decision-making and automation components.
• Establish and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, test automation, and operational models for containerized applications.
• Collaborate in cross-disciplinary agile teams to deliver technological solutions and evolve engineering standards.
• Assume technical responsibilities and facilitate knowledge sharing and professional growth within the team.
• Engage in initiatives to ensure quality, innovation, and ongoing enhancement of processes and solutions.

Candidate Profile

• A completed degree in computer science, business informatics, or equivalent qualifications.
• Several years of experience developing modern Java applications using Spring and Spring Boot frameworks.
• Strong expertise in service-oriented architectures, APIs, microservices, and cloud technologies, preferably AWS.
• Experience working with Kubernetes, container technologies, and managing complex application landscapes including operations and monitoring.
• Excellent command of DevOps practices, CI/CD, test automation, and managing infrastructure as code.
• Familiarity with business process modeling and automation using BPMN and ideally Camunda.
• Enthusiasm for artificial intelligence, especially agentic AI, and deploying it to optimize and automate business operations.
• Understanding of modern software architecture principles, clean code practices, security-by-design, and maintaining high-quality standards.
• Strong analytical skills combined with the ability to bridge technical and business requirements successfully.
• Effective communication skills, sense of responsibility, and enjoyment working in agile teams.
