Self Checkout Attendant

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the self-checkout area to ensure it is clean, safe, and organized, free from debris, spills, or unnecessary items.
• Promote Walmart’s company programs such as credit card services, product protection plans, and community charitable initiatives as appropriate.
• Support customers at self-checkout stations by assisting them with the process, monitoring activity, and completing necessary verifications. Clearly and kindly communicate any needed interventions and escalate any cash or technical issues to management.
• Respond promptly to Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alerts in line with company protocols and accurately log any failures to deactivate items.
• Manage Scan & Go equipment by ensuring scanners are properly returned to their designated storage areas after use.
• Be flexible with work hours, including availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet business needs.

Challenges in This Role

• Handle a high workload efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Effectively manage overnight shifts by preparing adequately to maintain energy and concentration.
• Perform repetitive physical tasks such as stocking and zoning with attention to detail, including lifting items up to 20 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs.

Compensation

The starting hourly wage for this position is $17.75.
