Customer Assistant – Night Shift

About the Role

Join our store team as a Customer Assistant on night shifts, contributing to the smooth operation of our stores which have proudly served communities for over 150 years. You will be a vital part of a dynamic environment, working efficiently throughout the night to ensure the store is ready to offer everything customers expect each day.

Main Duties

• Prepare the store for the upcoming day by restocking shelves and maintaining a continuous steady work rate during night hours.
• Ensure your working area is neat and tidy for your colleagues, and keep aisles clean and well-presented for the following day.
• Safely transport stock, including heavy items and equipment, from storage areas to shop floors.
• Operate across varied store sections, such as chilled and frozen departments.
• Utilize digital devices, handsets, and equipment to complete tasks accurately and safely.
• Assist in other areas as required, including picking online orders or serving customers at checkouts after adequate training.

• Friendly and approachable, passionate about providing excellent customer service.
• Physically prepared and resilient to manage the challenges of overnight work and its impacts on wellbeing and sleep patterns.
• Strong team player eager to support colleagues in a fast-paced setting.
• Flexible and willing to work across different store areas and embrace new challenges.
• Open to ongoing learning, skill development, and adopting new technologies.
• Capable of using digital tools confidently to perform job tasks effectively.
• Detail-oriented with pride in maintaining a clean workspace and enhancing customer experience.
• Must be at least 18 years old with eligibility to work in the UK.
