Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Security Officer to join a leading UK engineering site in Ferndown, focused on safety-critical nuclear instrumentation and other advanced technologies for aerospace, defence, naval, and power sectors. The role involves protecting personnel, property, and assets, strictly following customer and assignment guidelines to ensure a secure environment.
Work Schedule and Compensation
The position offers an annual salary of A334,000 and involves working 54 hours per week. Shift details include weekends (Saturday & Sunday from 08:00 to 20:00) and three night shifts (Monday to Wednesday from 21:30 to 07:30). The grade assigned is 3.1 Site Based.
Key Duties
- Perform access control monitoring, operate CCTV and security alarms.
- Conduct routine internal and external patrols throughout the premises.
- Manage keys, lock/unlock responsibilities, and issue visitor passes.
- Complete security checks, maintain reports and site records diligently.
- Properly utilize and maintain all security apparatus.
- Support the safety of staff, visitors, and contractors by upholding health and safety standards.
- Report and act upon health and safety procedures, hazards, or incidents.
- Ensure pathways and emergency exits remain unobstructed.
- Monitor first aid equipment usage and report shortages.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, communicate with the Security Operations Centre, and investigate any alarm activations.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must have a valid Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence before starting operational duties.
- Only UK nationals eligible, with British nationality and residency in the UK for the past 5 years.
- Hold BPSS clearance and the right to work in the UK with at least 5 years checkable history.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written English communication skills.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts including days, nights, and weekends.
