Role Overview

The Second Cook in the Pastry Kitchen will play a key role in crafting high-end desserts and pastries for multiple food and beverage venues and events. Reporting directly to the Pastry Chef, this position demands skill, dedication, and a passion for excellence to ensure guests enjoy premium offerings consistently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver courteous, professional, and proactive service to guests and colleagues at all times.
  • Maintain uniformity in preparing and presenting all pastry items according to established hotel recipes and standards.
  • Produce and serve quality products such as fresh scones, cakes, cookies, tarts, squares/bars, and tempered chocolate garnishes, following standard formulations.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of menu items, including ingredients and allergy considerations.
  • Support other kitchen areas and colleagues as needed to maintain seamless operations.
  • Adhere rigorously to all kitchen policies, procedures, health and safety standards, and food safety regulations.
  • Accurately complete temperature recording and maintain sanitation of kitchen appliances like refrigerators and freezers.
  • Champion sustainability by following food waste reduction and diversion programs at the hotel.
  • Promote strong cooperation between the kitchen team and other departments, especially within food and beverage services.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a kitchen environment, preferably within a hotel setting.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume culinary environment.
  • Comfort interacting with guests in public-facing areas.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, to clearly coordinate with colleagues and management.
  • Demonstrated responsibility, accountability, and a proactive approach to work.
  • Energetic, self-driven, outgoing, and a committed team player.
