About the Role
We are looking for a seasoned Systems Administrator (Manager / Advisor) based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This pivotal role involves hands-on technical leadership, overseeing system operations, providing expert technical advice, supervising infrastructure, and mentoring junior IT staff.
The position demands ensuring the stability, security, speed, and scalability of server infrastructure, cloud platforms, virtualization solutions, and essential business applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, administer, and sustain Windows and Linux servers, virtualization technologies like VMware and Hyper-V, plus cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
- Continuously monitor system performance, detect issues ahead of time, and optimize system capacity and efficiency.
- Oversee security protocols including firewall management, patch application, vulnerability assessments, and compliance with standards like ISO 27001 and NCA.
- Manage backup systems and disaster recovery plans to maintain data integrity and operational continuity.
- Utilize automation scripts using PowerShell, Bash, or Python to enhance system administration productivity.
- Provide expert-level support by resolving complex technical problems and advising stakeholders.
- Lead end-to-end infrastructure projects, from initial design to execution and deployment.
- Guide and develop junior administrators, review their work to ensure quality, and encourage skill progression.
- Create and maintain detailed technical documents, system schematics, performance analytics, and incident records.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or closely related discipline; master's degree is an advantage.
- Over 8 years of advancing experience in system administration, with at least 2 years in a managerial or advisory role.
- Deep expertise in Windows Server (versions 2016, 2019, 2022), Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Hands-on proficiency with Linux systems such as RHEL, Ubuntu, and CentOS.
- Experience in managing cloud infrastructures, specifically AWS and Azure platforms.
- Advanced skill with virtualization platforms including VMware vSphere and Hyper-V.
- Comprehensive understanding of network fundamentals like TCP/IP, VPNs, VLANs, routing, and load balancing.
- Familiarity with backup technologies such as Veeam or Commvault.
- Knowledge of disaster recovery procedures and planning.
- Competence in scripting with PowerShell or Bash.
- Strong analytical and problem-resolution capabilities, especially during critical system events.
- Excellent communication skills in English; Arabic language skills are a bonus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant industry certifications such as MCSE, RHCE, AWS Solutions Architect, VCP, or ITIL.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, or working with hybrid cloud setups.
- Prior work experience in Saudi Arabia or the GCC region is desirable.
