Job description
Role Overview
The SAP Basis Technical Consultant is responsible for ensuring optimal availability, performance, security, and reliability of SAP systems by efficiently managing Basis administration tasks such as system installation, monitoring, troubleshooting, patching, and upgrades across different SAP environments.
Primary Duties
- Set up, configure, and maintain SAP landscapes, ensuring system health and performance monitoring.
- Oversee SAP instances, profiles, parameters, and services management across DEV, QA, and PROD systems.
- Manage SAP Transport Management System (TMS) operations, including handling transports and kernel upgrades.
- Conduct SAP system upgrades, migrations, and system refreshes while maintaining change and release management protocols.
- Analyze system performance metrics, logs, and workloads to diagnose and resolve system performance and availability issues.
- Supervise background jobs, remote function calls (RFCs), interfaces, and conduct root cause analysis for technical issues.
- Administer SAP technical user access controls, support security remediation, monitor backups, and assist with disaster recovery and high availability testing.
- Provide technical support for SAP Basis issues, collaborate with cross-functional teams including ABAP developers, database administrators, network, and infrastructure staff.
- Participate in SAP implementation, integration, migration projects and maintain comprehensive technical documentation and operational procedures.
- Advise on technical improvements, mentor team members and uphold quality control processes and compliance with company policies, safety, and environmental standards.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Management Sciences & Systems or a closely related discipline.
- Between 4 to 6 years of practical experience working with SAP Basis administration.
- Proficiency in network analysis, design, operating systems knowledge, network integration, and data management techniques.
