Job description

Job Overview

The Sandwich Maker is responsible for preparing, assembling, and serving fresh meals while adhering to high standards of food quality, presentation, safety, and customer service within a fast-paced food service environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients by cleaning, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables.
  • Transport pans, kettles, and trays between work stations, stove, and refrigerator following safety protocols.
  • Store food items correctly using proper wrapping, labeling, and first-in-first-out rotation to maintain food safety.
  • Follow standardized sandwich recipes precisely to maintain product quality.
  • Carry out routine cleaning tasks including waste disposal to designated areas.
  • Manage distribution of supplies, utensils, and portable equipment efficiently.
  • Ensure prepared foods meet quality, temperature, and portion controls; report any issues to cooks promptly.
  • Provide friendly and efficient service to customers, adhering to prescribed steps of service.
  • Comply strictly with all sanitation and safety regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must hold FoodSafe Level 1 Certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle high workload with excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficient in English, able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions clearly.
  • Previous experience in food service sectors such as healthcare, hospitality, restaurant, or fast food is an asset.
  • Physical fitness to perform the duties required by this role.
  • Successful completion of a Drug & Alcohol Test and Criminal Record Check.
  • Experience in large-scale food service settings is necessary.

Position Details

  • Shift length: 10 hours per day.
  • Work schedule: 20 days on followed by 10 days off rotation.

Compensation

The hourly rate for this role is $20.25, with final pay determined by the applicant’s relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal fairness standards.
