About the Role
This position offers an hourly wage starting at $18, with the final pay determined by relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity standards. Our organization complies fully with pay transparency laws and ensures competitive compensation for all employees. The recruitment process may incorporate the use of artificial intelligence-based tools for screening applicants. Canadian work experience is not a mandatory criterion for this role.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare, pre-cook, and cook food items as per direction and operational standards.
- Organize mise en place, including setting up foods, garnishes, sauces, dishes, and cutlery, especially for high-volume meal production.
- Clean kitchen tools and equipment post-use according to health and safety protocols.
- Correctly label, date, store, and rotate food and beverage inventory in designated storage spaces.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with relevant operational departments.
- Promptly report any maintenance issues, faulty equipment, or accidents to supervisors.
- Carry out additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Prior cooking experience, including roles as a restaurant cook or prep cook.
- Mandatory Food Safety Certification.
- Completed certificate from a recognized culinary school.
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients, kitchen equipment, and procedures.
- Ability to accurately and swiftly execute assigned tasks.
- Acquaintance with industry best practices in food preparation and safety.
- Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Physical capability to perform job duties, including standing for long durations up to 9 hours and working in fast-paced environments.
