Role Overview
The Sales Operations Estimator is integral in refining the sales quotation process to produce accurate, detailed, and commercially robust proposals. Using architectural and technical documentation, you will define clear project scopes highlighting assumptions, exclusions, and contingency plans. You will ensure seamless progression from quote to order and coordinate efficient handover to deployment teams, minimizing commercial and delivery risks. Collaboration with Engineering and Design teams is essential to incorporate technical specifications into estimates.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Convert customer inquiries and warm leads into precise and compliant quotations that align with commercial standards and margin considerations.
- Own the quotation process, ensuring customer needs are correctly understood and clearly documented.
- Produce technically sound, commercially viable estimates ready for sales order processing.
- Develop comprehensive scopes of work, detailing assumptions, exclusions, contingencies, and unique requirements to support smooth project execution.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks related to commercial, technical, or delivery aspects during estimation.
- Engage collaboratively with Engineering and Hardware Design to scope, cost, and validate new or complex client requirements.
- Act as the primary escalation owner for commercial or technical clarifications during pre-sales activities.
- Support rapid and confident decision-making by resolving ambiguities in customer specifications early on.
- Manage order intake communications through the estimation and pre-sales stages.
- Work closely with Sales Operations, Order Management, and Deployment teams to ensure accuracy and completeness of sales order data for smooth handover.
- Contribute to efforts around process automation and best practices to improve the customer experience.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or equivalent qualification in a relevant technical or commercial field, or comparable practical experience.
- Experience of 3 to 5 years in estimating, pre-sales, or commercial quotation roles within project-based environments.
- Technical and commercial knowledge of signage solutions.
- Proven ability to interpret tender documents, architectural, and construction drawings.
- Demonstrated estimating precision and sound commercial judgment.
- Familiarity with estimating, quoting, or ERP software systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel.
- Experience working across functions in matrixed environments, adept at managing competing stakeholder needs.
