Role Overview
The Industrial Designer will plan and produce design solutions for new and existing products, ensuring functionality, usability, manufacturability, and alignment with brand and commercial goals. The role entails concept development, prototyping, technical documentation, and collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams to drive product quality across its lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed design outputs that satisfy technical, aesthetic, and commercial criteria while meeting timelines.
- Transform technical briefs into practical product designs balancing usability and manufacturability.
- Prepare comprehensive technical drawings and specifications to support manufacturing processes.
- Create clear presentations of concepts and prototypes fostering stakeholder feedback and decision-making.
- Incorporate user feedback into iterative design improvements for enhanced functionality.
- Apply Design for Manufacture and Design for Excellence principles ensuring production feasibility.
- Build and test prototypes to validate usability and performance.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including product management, engineering, marketing, and New Product Introduction—to ensure alignment and project progress.
- Communicate project updates, risks, and design considerations transparently to stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvements in design practices and mentor junior team members.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in industrial design or product development roles.
- Proficient in product design creation, including metalwork and basic electrical knowledge.
- Experienced in delivering manufacturing-ready outputs such as CAD models, technical drawings, bills of materials, and cost assessments.
- Skilled with 2D visualisation and graphic communication tools like Adobe Suite, Figma, or Canva.
- Familiarity with Keyshot rendering software.
