About the Role

The Sales Lot Porter is essential for maintaining the cleanliness, orderliness, and presentation of the vehicle sales lot within an automotive retail setting. This position ensures all vehicles are cleaned, properly positioned, fueled, and prepared for customer viewing and test drives, directly enhancing the customer experience and sales outcomes. The role involves close communication with sales personnel and management to facilitate vehicle deliveries and displays, alongside managing the lot inventory through precise vehicle placement and movement. The porter also contributes to lot safety by inspecting vehicles and promptly reporting any issues, supporting the sales team by fostering a professional and appealing dealership environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain immaculate interior and exterior conditions of sold vehicles.
  • Relocate and arrange vehicles on the lot as instructed by sales and management to maximize space and showcase appeal.
  • Support vehicle delivery and pickup processes, ensuring proper handling of paperwork and keys.
  • Perform frequent vehicle inspections focusing on damage, cleanliness, and maintenance; promptly report concerns.
  • Keep the sales lot clean and organized by removing trash and sweeping.
  • Follow all dealership safety guidelines to ensure a secure work environment.

Required Skills and Attributes

  • Competent driving skills necessary for safe vehicle maneuvering within an active, low-speed lot.
  • Strong attention to detail when inspecting vehicles to maintain high presentation standards.
  • Effective communication abilities to coordinate with sales staff and management.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform cleaning, organizing, and vehicle moving tasks throughout the workday.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

  • Skill to safely operate vehicles at low speeds (up to 5 MPH) within a busy lot.
  • Physical capability to prepare vehicles, stand for prolonged periods, and move vehicles as needed.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle handling and safety procedures.
  • Strong reliability and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow supervisory instructions accurately.
