Safety Officer

Overview

Parsons Corporation invites qualified candidates to apply for the Safety Officer position based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This role offers a unique opportunity to promote health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards in infrastructure projects by working closely with both internal teams and contractors. As a valued member of our team, you will help enforce corporate HSE policies, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute Parsons' HSE policies, plans, and applicable legislation while monitoring performance and targets to identify areas for enhancement.
• Coordinate with the Safety Manager and contractors to improve and uphold corporate HSE management standards.
• Oversee contractor activities to ensure compliance with safety protocols and best practices on-site.
• Examine Hazard Analyses and Risk Assessments, evaluate the effectiveness of hazard controls, job safety plans, and work methods, and conduct site safety inspections with prompt reporting to the Resident Engineer.
• Review contractors' monthly HSE inspections and reports to maintain compliance.
• Organize and lead monthly safety meetings, establish action items to resolve outstanding concerns, and distribute meeting minutes for follow-up.
• Assess emergency preparedness, permit-to-work systems, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and HSE documentation for contractors to ensure alignment with company requirements.
• Analyze incident and accident reports from contractors, disseminate key learnings, and supervise corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
• Undertake additional relevant duties as assigned to support the safety function.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Possession of a Degree or Diploma in Engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
• A minimum of eight years of professional experience in health and safety roles specific to infrastructure projects.
• Valid health and safety certifications recognized in the UAE, such as NEBOSH, OSHAD Qudorat/ADOSH SF, First Aid, Fire Safety, or ISO 45001.
• Availability for in-person interviews in Abu Dhabi.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least two years of recent construction supervision experience within infrastructure projects.
• Experience working with engineering consulting firms.
• Previous work experience in the UAE and possession of a valid UAE driving license are advantages.
