About the Role
G4S Secure Solutions Ireland invites applicants for the role of Security Officer at Ballybrit, County Galway. This position involves working 36 contracted hours per week on a flexible schedule covering 24/7 shifts, typically in 12-hour blocks from Monday through Sunday, according to roster and client needs. The base hourly wage is €15.41, with additional premiums including €3.44 per hour for Sundays, €20.00 for unsociable hour shifts, overtime at 1.5x after 96 hours in a fortnight, and double pay for bank holidays worked.
Responsibilities
- Conduct security patrols to ensure safety of premises, staff, and visitors.
- Operate and monitor CCTV and access control systems to detect and respond to risks.
- Manage alarms, incidents, and emergencies calmly and professionally.
- Provide excellent customer service while maintaining vigilance for security concerns.
- Document incidents accurately and report suspicious activities in real time.
- Work collaboratively with emergency services when necessary to resolve situations swiftly.
Candidate Requirements
- Must hold a valid PSA Security Guarding license.
- Completion of 5 years verifiable employment and personal activity screening and vetting.
- At least 2 years previous experience in security roles.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to remain composed under pressure.
- Proactive approach, meticulous attention to detail, and commitment to professional appearance and service quality.
- Flexible availability to work varying shifts including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Strong observational skills to detect unusual behaviors or potential threats.
- Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, along with active listening skills.
- Calm conflict resolution skills to de-escalate potential confrontations effectively.
- Friendly and professional customer service demeanor.
- Knowledge of emergency response protocols including first aid, CPR, and evacuation procedures.
- Competency in report writing and understanding legal and organizational documentation standards.
- Familiarity with security systems such as alarms, CCTV, access control, and basic office software.
- Proficient in surveillance equipment and monitoring software usage for security management.
- Quick decision-making skills to identify and mitigate security threats and emergencies.
- Ability to work cohesively within teams and coordinate with law enforcement or emergency responders.
- Consistent attention to detail in all security-related tasks.
- Capability to manage crises, including evacuations, crowd control, and liaising with authorities.
- Efficient time management to balance patrolling, monitoring, and administrative duties.
