This position involves performing manual labour tasks and operating various Council road construction and maintenance machinery efficiently to meet required standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out general labour duties supporting maintenance and construction activities.
• Operate plant machinery with a high standard of quality.
• Maintain and service equipment following established operating procedures.
• Keep daily records of plant usage and movements.
• Interpret basic plans and job instructions accurately.
• Report any discovered weed infestations promptly.
• Implement traffic control and manage traffic plans when required.
• Collaborate with workplace representatives and coworkers to improve work processes continuously.
• Help enhance the Council’s public image and foster positive community relations.
• Communicate effectively with clients, Council staff, public, consultants, utilities, and government authorities by exchanging helpful information.
• Perform routine administrative duties like completing timesheets.
• Support senior personnel in enhancing work practices and developing new procedures.
• Participate in training exercises and assist with disaster response and recovery efforts.
• Take on additional duties as assigned that align with skills and training.

Mandatory Qualifications and Licences

• Queensland Class 'C' manual driver’s licence.
• QLD General Safety Induction (White or Blue Card).
• Certificate of Competency for Roller operation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current Queensland Class 'HR' driver's licence.
• Accreditation to Implement Traffic Management Plans (ITMP).
• Traffic Control Licence.
• Other relevant plant operation tickets.

Required Skills and Knowledge

• Experience operating heavy vehicles within infrastructure maintenance or construction contexts.
• Proficiency in literacy, numeracy, oral communication, and willingness to engage in continuous learning.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team with limited supervision.
• Strong understanding and adherence to Equal Employment Opportunity and Workplace Health and Safety standards.
