About the Role
Join Transport for NSW as a Road Worker based in Heatherbrae, contributing to essential civil infrastructure projects that enhance safety and longevity of road networks in New South Wales. This hands-on role supports the construction, maintenance, and renewal of roads, including pavement, drainage, concrete projects, and roadside traffic signage and signals.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in delivering vital road infrastructure to improve safety and resilience across NSW.
- Perform various civil construction and maintenance duties such as pavement and drainage works.
- Collaborate with concrete crews on concreting and finishing tasks.
- Install and maintain roadside traffic control equipment.
- Work primarily night shifts from Sunday to Thursday, 6:00 pm to 2:30 am, on a 9-day fortnight schedule with alternating Thursdays off.
Candidate Profile
You bring a solid work ethic, reliability, and a positive, can-do attitude. Adaptability, safety awareness, team collaboration, initiative, and eagerness to learn are essential traits. Previous experience in roadwork or laboring is beneficial but not mandatory.
Essential Requirements
- Experience in concrete slab work and finishing.
- Valid Construction Industry White Card.
- Current Australian Class C driver's license, minimum Provisional P1.
- Preparedness to obtain additional licenses or tickets as required.
- Capability to operate safely within fast-moving, high-volume traffic settings.
- Availability for overtime and travel as needed.
- Residence within 100 km of Heatherbrae depot.
Working Conditions
This physically demanding position is based outdoors and requires night shifts. You will work within a supportive team environment that fosters skill development, including opportunities to gain traffic control certifications and experience in plant operations.
