Overview

Transport for NSW is seeking a dedicated Finishing Grader Operator to join their team in the Western Riverina Region based in Hay, NSW. This permanent, full-time role involves delivering high-quality road pavement finishing across regional NSW, working on major government road and pavement widening projects that connect communities.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will execute precise trimming and finishing of road pavements with tight tolerances, working collaboratively as part of a team. Your expertise will support various construction and maintenance projects while guiding colleagues to improve their skills and efficiency. You will operate mostly under limited supervision in a dynamic construction environment focused on continuous improvement.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

  • Proven extensive experience in road construction and maintenance, particularly in grading, levelling, and trimming operations.
  • Skilled in safely operating grading machinery to exact specifications and performing quality control checks.
  • Familiarity with advanced technologies such as Topcon GPS to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Possession of a valid and current driver's license; interstate applicants must be prepared to transfer their license to NSW if relocating.
  • Completion of a White Card certification.
  • Desirable: MR license or higher and experience with Caterpillar 140M graders.

Employment Conditions and Benefits

  • Permanent full-time position working a 38-hour week broken into a 9-day fortnight schedule.
  • Allowances including Living Away From Home Allowance (LAFHA) and penalty rates for reasonable overtime and travel, all in line with the Award.
  • Relocation assistance may be available for suitable candidates, welcoming applications from across Australia, especially from the Hay, Narrandera, Griffith, Wagga Wagga, and Deniliquin regions.
