Labourer

About the Role

Blacktown Animal Rehoming Centre is seeking a Labourer who values hands-on practical work and enjoys spending time outdoors. Your main responsibility is to maintain a clean, safe, and well-kept facility that provides a welcoming atmosphere for animals, staff, volunteers, and visitors daily. Working under the supervision of the Team Leader Impounding and Animal Welfare, you will perform a variety of tasks around the facility, including grounds upkeep, minor repairs, and general labor duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the grounds by mowing lawns, managing weed control, and collecting litter
• Keep common areas clean and conduct routine site inspections for upkeep needs
• Provide garden care and operate grounds maintenance machinery
• Handle deliveries and move supplies as required
• Clean and present animal housing areas suitably
• Assist in assembling and maintaining fencing, shelters, and exercise zones
• Support the safe handling and movement of animals when necessary
• Contribute to the daily center operations alongside other staff members

Candidate Profile

The ideal applicant has experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, landscaping, manual labor, or similar fields. Candidates should be able to work independently and collaboratively within a team, demonstrate a strong focus on safety practices, and be at ease working in proximity to animals.
