About the Role
Join Transport for NSW's Traffic Facilities team within the Road Maintenance and Resilience Division as a Road Worker based in Waratah, NSW. This permanent full-time position involves working collaboratively with internal teams and external contractors to deliver road maintenance and renewal projects across state, regional, and local networks with a focus on road markings, signage, and traffic control systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out manual labor and maintenance tasks utilizing plant, equipment, powered and non-powered hand tools.
- Install signs and road markings as part of ongoing road maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with Team Leaders and Works Supervisors to manage daily operations and troubleshoot arising issues.
- Participate in daily meetings to contribute ideas aimed at boosting team productivity and output.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, environmental regulations, and quality controls on site.
- Stay informed and compliant with current Workplace Health and Safety legislation, policies, and procedures to minimize risk.
- Work on a 9-day fortnight roster, including potential callouts, night work, and travel within the district.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a team player with keen attention to detail, accustomed to similar work environments. Practical thinking, the ability to learn quickly, strong communication skills, and a readiness to perform physically active outdoor manual tasks within a team are essential.
Essential Qualifications
- Valid White Card.
- Current driver’s licence.
- Traffic Controller and Implement Traffic Control certifications or willingness to obtain these within three months.
Additional Information
- Applicants must reside within a 100 km radius of Waratah depot.
- Flexibility to work outside standard hours, including night shifts and travel away from home as needed.
- Previous experience in road marking or signage work is advantageous but not mandatory.
