RME Manager II

Job Overview

This role involves full accountability for building and facility maintenance ensuring reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency. The manager will ensure compliance with Indian regulations and various standards related to safety, environment, and equipment upkeep.

Core Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to Indian compliance laws including hazardous waste management, pressure vessel regulations, calibration standards, pollution control, electricity regulations, weights and measures, and licensing/permits.
• Maintain FSSAI food safety standards within the building, overseeing pest control, cleanliness, and documentation.
• Manage maintenance and availability of common area utilities such as lighting, fire protection systems, and sewage treatment plants coordinated with the landlord and Real Estate team.
• Participate in site launch planning incorporating previous learnings into design.
• Prepare and manage annual Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) and Operational Expenditure (OPEX) budgets, ensuring financial targets set by leadership are met.
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for incidents and breakdowns to prevent recurrence.
• Develop effective contingency plans for critical equipment and monitor their efficiency.
• Create and continuously update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring compliance among team members.
• Benchmark and elevate Amazon’s RME activities’ performance standards.
• Oversee maintenance of equipment including conveyors, workstations, labeling machines, PLC controls, electrical systems, and trolleys.
• Provide timely feedback and conduct performance reviews for team members.
• Implement preventive maintenance schedules for equipment longevity.
• Ensure contractors and vendors adhere to rules, minimizing disruptions to site operations.
• Develop and implement vendor Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMCs) with defined service levels.
• Coordinate material procurement with the Procurement team.
• Compile lists of critical spare parts per manufacturer recommendations and maintain necessary inventory for in-house equipment maintenance.
• Provide analyses on equipment performance and availability.
• Manage day-to-day equipment-related issues in collaboration with Operations teams, prioritizing tasks accordingly.
• Lead a team comprising maintenance technicians and third-party facilities service providers.
• Set goals, plan staffing, and organize staff training to achieve service standards.
• Ensure a safe working environment in line with Amazon Safety Policy and collaborate with Safety teams for continuous improvements.
• Maintain building housekeeping levels meeting 5S standards through team management.
• Handle maintenance, updating, and storage of all relevant RME documents.
• Support Engineering and Projects teams in installation and commissioning of new equipment ensuring compliance with Amazon operational standards.
• Demonstrate leadership both within the team and across other departments, promoting creativity and positive solutions.
• Provide swift technical guidance during critical operational events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or minimum two years of relevant Amazon experience.
• At least five years of experience as a Reliability Program Manager or equivalent.
• Capability to work flexible schedules including weekends, nights, and holidays.
• Proficiency with MS Office suite including Excel and Word.

Preferred Experience

• More than five years managing teams, handling budgets, supplier relations, and client/customer interactions.
• Experience with preventive maintenance, industrial electrical systems, industrial controls, electronics, and robotics.
