Job description
Position Overview
The Risk Manager plays a critical role in overseeing risk identification, evaluation, monitoring, and mitigation during the entire lifecycle of construction projects. This position aims to ensure that risk management processes minimize potential negative impacts on project cost, timeline, quality, safety, and goals, while optimizing opportunities.
Primary Duties
- Formulate and execute the Project Risk Management Plan aligned with organizational standards.
- Identify and rank project risks using both qualitative and quantitative risk assessment methods.
- Maintain and continually update the project's Risk Register.
- Organize and lead risk workshops involving project teams, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Track progress on risk mitigation initiatives and ensure responsibilities are fulfilled timely.
- Assess how risks may affect the project’s cost, schedule, quality, safety, and operations.
- Produce risk-related reports, dashboards, and presentations for management and executives.
- Work in coordination with departments such as Planning, Commercial, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, HSE, and Quality for cohesive risk control.
- Perform Monte Carlo simulations and detailed quantitative risk analysis as necessary.
- Assist in avoiding claims by proactively identifying and managing contractual and commercial risks.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, client standards, and global risk frameworks like ISO 31000.
- Continuously monitor emerging risks and advise on corrective and preventive measures.
- Engage in project reviews, audits, and knowledge-sharing sessions to capture lessons learned.
Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related fields; a Master’s degree is a significant advantage.
- Professional credentials such as PMI-RMP, PMP, IRM, or equivalents are desirable.
Required Experience
- A minimum of 12 to 15 years’ experience in managing large-scale construction projects.
- At least five years devoted specifically to risk management functions.
- Experience working on EPC, design-build, or similar substantial construction projects is strongly preferred.
Technical Expertise
- Deep understanding of project risk management techniques and the ISO 31000 standard.
- Proficiency with software including Primavera Risk Analysis, Oracle Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Skillful in quantitative risk analysis, Monte Carlo simulation, and generating risk reports.
- Outstanding analytical capabilities, as well as strong communication, stakeholder relationship, and presentation skills.
