Risk Management Specialist

Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Risk Management Coordinator to oversee risk identification, evaluation, tracking, and reporting across Oil & Gas and EPC projects in Qatar. This role involves collaborating with various project disciplines such as engineering, construction, procurement, and commercial teams to ensure effective risk documentation, assessment, and mitigation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage and update the project Risk Register, coordinating the overall risk management activities.
• Identify potential risks spanning project, commercial, technical, scheduling, cost, HSE, and operational domains.
• Perform risk assessments in partnership with relevant departments assessing likelihood and impact.
• Create and oversee risk mitigation and contingency strategies.
• Monitor risks continuously and ensure timely execution of mitigation actions.
• Generate comprehensive risk reports, including dashboards, matrices, and presentations for management.
• Organize periodic risk review sessions with project stakeholders.
• Observe emerging risks, opportunities, and project changes that could influence objectives.
• Assist with quantitative and qualitative risk evaluations when necessary.
• Collaborate with Planning, Project Controls, Contracts, Procurement, Engineering, Construction, and HSE teams.
• Maintain thorough documentation and records relating to project risk management.
• Escalate significant risks to appropriate management tiers promptly.
• Support in capturing lessons learned and integrating these insights into ongoing risk processes.
• Ensure compliance with internal project procedures, client mandates, and industry standards specific to Oil & Gas.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, Risk Management, or related disciplines.
• Between five to eight years of relevant experience, ideally within Oil & Gas, EPC, construction, or substantial infrastructure projects.
• Proven background in Project Risk Management or Risk Coordination roles.
• Familiarity with Risk Registers, Risk Matrices, mitigation approaches, and risk reporting methodologies.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Knowledge of interfaces between Project Controls, Planning, Cost, Scheduling, Contracts, and HSE risks.
• Strong analytical, coordination, communication, and reporting skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and various project management and reporting software tools.
• Experience working on projects within Qatar, GCC, or the Middle East region is advantageous.

Preferred Certifications

• Credentials such as PMI-RMP, PRINCE2, PMP, IRM, or similar recognized Risk or Project Management certifications are beneficial.
