Job description
Role Overview
This position involves safeguarding customers, employees, and inventory within a retail setting by maintaining a secure environment. The officer will serve as a visible deterrent against criminal activity, deliver excellent customer service, and manage incidents effectively.
Work Schedule
The role includes shifts in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain a conspicuous security presence to prevent theft and undesirable behavior.
- Conduct regular store patrols and monitor CCTV to detect suspicious activities.
- Respond promptly to alarms and incidents, escalating situations when necessary.
- Perform searches according to company guidelines when required.
- Prepare detailed reports on incidents and observations.
- Collaborate closely with store management and staff regarding security issues.
- Exhibit a professional and approachable demeanor at all times.
- Assist customers and staff with queries effectively.
- Calmly de-escalate challenging situations.
- Adhere to all company policies, site procedures, and legal regulations.
- Support team efforts by performing additional duties as assigned.
Candidate Requirements
- Possess the legal right to work in the UK and be able to complete DBS and BS7858 security checks.
- Hold a valid SIA Licence for Door Supervisor or Security Guarding, accompanied by relevant security experience.
- Demonstrate keen observation skills to identify suspicious behavior accurately.
- Handle difficult situations with composure and professionalism.
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting and interaction purposes.
- Exhibit a proactive and professional attitude towards safety and security.
- Be flexible to work different shifts including weekends and evenings.
