Job description
Role Overview
The Reliability Maintenance Engineering Planner is tasked with overseeing asset performance, spare parts inventory, and preventive or condition-based maintenance scheduling. This role serves as the site expert for the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop maintenance schedules and plans using recurring preventive maintenance, predictive data, and key performance indicators.
- Review and audit asset performance management work orders, accurately estimate resources including labor, materials, and equipment for assigned tasks.
- Collaborate with maintenance management, technicians, and vendors to coordinate maintenance during available downtime.
- Manage spare parts ordering and inventory for both planned and emergency repairs.
- Act as site-level CMMS expert, train engineering teams, and escalate issues appropriately while ensuring compliance with company standards.
- Maintain accurate records for equipment, spare parts, and minimum stock levels to support technician needs.
- Collect equipment data and propose improvements based on analysis.
- Optimize spare parts stock levels, coordinate with procurement and networks for cost savings.
- Screen work orders, define scope, plan workloads, and schedule maintenance within resource and time constraints.
- Conduct quality audits on preventive maintenance to identify improvement areas and document safety risks related to maintenance activities.
- Estimate work hours and total durations for tasks and ensure all maintenance activities are properly documented and closed in CMMS.
- Ensure availability of necessary technical documents and engineering drawings.
- Analyze downtime data and implement warranty processes to enhance uptime and reduce costs.
- Drive programs that ensure at least 85% of maintenance work is proactive.
- Partner with local leadership to align maintenance activities towards a world-class program.
- Provide expert support on maintenance issues, manage OEM technical information and maintain communication with OEM vendors.
- Physically capable to handle up to 49lbs, stand or walk up to 10 hours, climb ladders, and perform a range of physical activities during shifts.
Typical Day
- Assess shift reports and technician data quality, reopen or flag work orders to ensure compliance with labor booking policies.
- Plan daily activities including resource allocation, project schedules, vendor presence, preventive maintenance, and overdue tasks.
- Perform regular surveys of preventive maintenance and system checks for quality assurance and provide timely feedback.
- Maintain and update team skills matrices to ensure training on spare parts and asset performance management.
Team Context
The site’s reliability maintenance engineering team manages building engineering, facilities operations, soft services, and technical services related to base building and material handling equipment.
Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience with enterprise asset management software.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 2 years as a maintenance planner/scheduler in industrial, manufacturing, or distribution settings.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with budget management, scheduling, and cost reporting.
- Master’s degree or equivalent in computer science, computer engineering, or relevant experience with AI systems.
