Regional Intelligence Analyst

Position Overview

We are offering three fixed-term contracts each lasting 12 months for the role of Regional Intelligence Analyst. Applicants based preferably in Hamilton, Napier, or Christchurch are encouraged, though candidates from any WorkSafe New Zealand location may apply. Inter-agency secondments are welcome following consultation with your current manager.

Team Background

The Enterprise Planning and Implementation group is a newly formed team aimed at bolstering organisational planning, coordination, and execution. The Regulatory Intelligence team supports WorkSafe by converting diverse data and operational insights into intelligence products that enhance regulatory decision-making across New Zealand.

Role Responsibilities

• Examine operational data and various information sources to detect regional risks and new trends.
• Create intelligence reports and products to assist in regulatory targeting and prioritization processes.
• Present complex analytical findings in clear and actionable formats for inspectors and leaders.
• Maintain robust relationships with inspectors and stakeholders to identify emerging regulatory challenges.
• Provide timely intelligence assistance aligned with regional regulatory activities.
• Develop operational reports and dashboards that facilitate informed decision-making.
• Highlight emerging concerns that may require organizational-wide attention.

Candidate Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in analysing both quantitative and qualitative data to extract valuable insights.
• Strong critical thinking ability to manage ambiguous or incomplete data.
• Proven competence in producing well-structured, straightforward reports or intelligence briefs.
• Experience juggling multiple priorities and stakeholder demands efficiently.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
• Prior experience in intelligence, regulatory, or public sector roles is preferred.
• A pertinent qualification or ongoing progress towards one in intelligence analysis or similar analytical field is beneficial.

Employment Conditions and Benefits

The salary range for this position spans from $83,137 to $108,442 annually, excluding additional KiwiSaver and SSRSS contributions. The KiwiSaver employer contribution will rise to 3.5% starting 1 April 2026.
