Job description
Role Overview
As a Receiving Associate at The Home Depot Canada in Kingston, you will be part of a team responsible for unloading, inspecting, and organizing incoming merchandise. This role emphasizes attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and using store systems to process and handle merchandise efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Unload various inbound freight, including BOSS and special orders, using powered lift equipment after obtaining necessary licenses.
- Verify shipment accuracy by checking vendor packing slips, carrier shipping documents, and UPC labels against purchase orders.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the receiving area, including handling disposal of pallets, cardboard, and trash.
- Stock merchandise accurately onto shelves to ensure optimal inventory levels, build promotional displays, and maintain overhead storage safety.
- Coordinate with Freight and Fulfillment Teams to communicate stock levels and ensure proper product placement.
- Approach and assist customers by understanding their project needs through effective communication and open-ended questioning.

Physical and Working Conditions
- Regular bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, and pulling; ability to lift heavy or bulky items independently.
- Walking and standing for extended periods and climbing ladders up to 12–16 feet.
- Exposure to a warehouse environment that may be dusty, noisy, and have uneven or slippery floors due to equipment and weather conditions.
- Handling merchandise and tools which may have sharp edges or contain hazardous materials.
Qualifications and Other Requirements
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of experience in receiving roles is required.
- Forklift operation experience is considered an advantage.
- All receiving associates must be licensed to operate powered lift equipment such as electric pallet jacks, reach trucks, order pullers, and forklifts.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is from $20.10 to $21.85 per hour.
