Job description
Job Overview
The Protection Engineer role involves designing, reviewing, and validating protection settings and logic specifically for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) infrastructure, including substations, transformers, and inverters.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform calculations, coordination studies, and conduct fault analyses for High Voltage (HV), Medium Voltage (MV), and Low Voltage (LV) protection systems.
- Manage testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning phases of protection relays such as SECO, Siemens, ABB, or Schneider models.
- Diagnose and resolve intricate protection system problems, analyze tripping events, and implement the necessary corrective measures.
- Assure that all engineering processes adhere strictly to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) standards, Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) regulations, and all project-specific safety protocols.
- Liaise closely with site operations teams, subcontractors, and electrical grid authorities during system integration to ensure smooth coordination.
