Team Overview

The Operations team services a diverse customer base supporting key national supply chains across five states. Managing an 8,500km rail network used extensively for transporting bulk commodities, passengers, as well as general freight items such as steel, groceries, and electrical goods for both domestic use and international export.

Role Purpose

This role optimises track access related to maintenance and project initiatives while reducing disruption to train operations across the ARTC Network.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and optimise track access for both maintenance and project works, ensuring minimised interference with train schedules across the network.
• Evaluate and coordinate track access and possession requests, confirming all works remain within operational constraints.
• Create temporary amendments to the Master Train Plan and facilitate stakeholder communications and consultations.
• Collaborate closely with asset maintainers, project teams, and train operators to secure and maintain continuous train paths.
• Act as ARTC's representative in possession planning forums, project meetings, and stakeholder consultations.
• Monitor possession impacts on train operations, delivering suggestions to refine planning and approval procedures.
• Compile possession planning documentation including reports, recommendations, and supporting records.
• Provide operational advice to Network Coordination on scheduled possessions, changes to train pathways, and project-related issues.

Candidate Profile

• Experience in rail freight or logistics, particularly familiar with ARTC and Melbourne Metro Rail Networks.
• Knowledge or direct experience in train and possession planning processes.
• Proven ability in planning, coordination, and managing stakeholder relations.
• Strong skills in communication, negotiation, and delivering excellent customer service.
• Meticulous attention to detail with the capability of balancing multiple priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and information management systems.

Location Requirements

Candidates must reside in Newcastle or Adelaide to be eligible.
