About The Team

The Operations team supports critical national supply chains by managing an 8,500 km rail network across five states. This network transports bulk materials, passenger services, and general freight including steel and consumer goods for import and export. Operating in some of Australia's busiest rail corridors, the team is focused on delivering safe, efficient, and sustainable services to customers, stakeholders, and communities.

Role Overview

The Project Possessions Coordinator is responsible for optimising track access for maintenance and project work while minimizing disruptions to train operations across the ARTC Network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and optimise track access for maintenance and project activities ensuring minimal train service impact.
  • Evaluate and coordinate track access and possession applications to ensure compliance with operational limits.
  • Develop temporary adjustments to the Master Train Plan and manage stakeholder consultation and communication processes.
  • Collaborate with asset maintenance teams, project groups, and train operators to secure necessary access while maintaining train path continuity.
  • Represent ARTC in possession planning meetings, project discussions, and stakeholder forums.
  • Monitor possession impacts on train operations and propose improvements to planning and approval methods.
  • Compile possession planning documentation, recommendations, and records.
  • Offer operational advice and assistance to Network Coordination on planned possessions, altered train paths, and project-related matters.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience in rail freight or logistics with knowledge of ARTC and Melbourne Metro Rail Networks.
  • Understanding or experience in train and possession planning.
  • Strong skills in planning, coordination, and stakeholder management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service capabilities.
  • Detail-oriented approach and ability to handle multiple competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and information management systems.
  • Applicants must reside in Newcastle or Adelaide.
