Role Overview
The Project Planner will be responsible for supporting successful project planning from tender through construction commencement and beyond. This includes developing and managing detailed schedules with industry-standard software like Asta PowerProject and Primavera. The role ensures realistic planning, risk identification, and alignment with client and business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed tender and pre-construction programmes using Asta PowerProject
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and scopes to establish logical project sequences
- Collaborate with design, procurement, production, logistics, and project teams for programme input
- Maintain control of all technical and commercial bid documentation during tender phase
- Support project managers throughout project execution
- Coordinate with estimators, quantity surveyors, and pre-construction design teams during bids
- Create baseline programmes including critical path and key milestone identification
- Identify risks, constraints, and opportunities within project plans
- Conduct programme sensitivity and scenario analyses
- Review subcontractor and supplier programmes to ensure alignment
- Participate in tender meetings, internal reviews, and client presentations
- Prepare programme reports and visual representations like Gantt charts
- Ensure planning documentation meets client and contractual standards
- Manage clear, auditable records of programmes and documentation
- Contribute to developing planning standards, templates, and best practices
- Keep updated with industry planning methodologies and software developments
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Preferred third-level degree
- Proven experience in planning roles within construction or civil engineering
- Strong expertise in pre-construction and tender-stage planning
- Mandatory experience with Asta PowerProject
- Desirable familiarity with Primavera P6 or MS Project
- Solid understanding of construction methods and sequencing
- Skills in programme creation, critical path analysis, and delay assessments
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and reporting tools
