Role Overview

This Intermediate IT Project Manager role focuses on overseeing application-related projects within a government context in Wellington. The candidate will contribute to delivering high-value technological initiatives, collaborating closely with both business and technical stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate full lifecycle management of IT projects aimed at enhancing government service delivery.
• Collaborate with business and technical teams to define project scope, requirements, and deliverables.
• Monitor project progress, manage risks and issues, and implement change control procedures.
• Support budget oversight, resource allocation, and coordination with vendors.
• Generate concise and informative project reports for governance and senior management review.
• Maintain comprehensive and audit-ready project documentation.
• Recommend and contribute to improvements in project delivery methodologies and practices.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• At least 4 years of experience in managing IT application projects.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in IT, business, or a related discipline.
• Proven ability working within IT delivery environments, including applications and digital sectors.
• Strong understanding of diverse project management frameworks such as Waterfall, Agile, and Hybrid models.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrates a proactive, organized, and solution-oriented mindset.

Desirable Experience

• Exposure to government or regulated industry environments.
• Familiarity with public sector governance, reporting, or assurance processes.
• Relevant certifications like PMP, PRINCE2, AgilePM, or Scrum.
